EAS (electronic amplified steering) makes it possible to remote-control electro-hydraulic proportional valves installed in parallel with a mechanical-hydraulic steering system (orbitrol). The proportional valves can be used to vary or, in particular, to amplify the transmission ratio from steering wheel to steering axle.
The speed of the steering wheel is detected by a corresponding steering wheel sensor. Depending on the other sensors installed in the vehicle, this amplification can be flexibly adjusted to suit the particular travel situation, travel direction or current steering angle. A convenient steering system can therefore be set up for use on the construction site, on the business premises or in the field.
An optional CAN message can provide steering speed data. This allows the system to work with GNSS-based steering when an angle sensor is installed on the vehicle’s steering axle. The steering commands sent must follow the ISOBUS standard.
Thanks to the wide range of options for remote control of the proportional valves and the release valve, universal application is possible in conjunction with HYDAC mobile valves.
