EAS – SOFTWARE FOR ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC AMPLIFIED STEERING

EAS (electronic amplified steering) makes it possible to remote-control electro-hydraulic proportional valves installed in parallel with a mechanical-hydraulic steering system (orbitrol). The proportional valves can be used to vary or, in particular, to amplify the transmission ratio from steering wheel to steering axle.

The speed of the steering wheel is detected by a corresponding steering wheel sensor. Depending on the other sensors installed in the vehicle, this amplification can be flexibly adjusted to suit the particular travel situation, travel direction or current steering angle. A convenient steering system can therefore be set up for use on the construction site, on the business premises or in the field.

Thanks to an optionally available steering speed specification via CAN message, use in conjunction with GNSS (global navigation satellite system)-based steering systems is also possible in connection with an angle sensor at the vehicle’s steering axle. The steering direction specification that is sent must be ISOBUS-compliant.

Thanks to the wide range of options for remote control of the proportional valves and the release valve, universal application is possible in conjunction with HYDAC mobile valves.

The individual software versions are available on HY-TTC 32S controllers.

Advantages of EAS superimposed steering

  • Suitable for vehicles with Ackermann steering and those with articulated steering
  • Simple integration into existing vehicle architectures
  • Various release functionalities in conjunction with on-road driving
  • Steering amplification can be based on vehicle speed and/or vehicle direction
  • Dynamic adjustment of the steering amplification manually or via external signa
  • Manual switching between superimposed function and GNSS-based remote control
  • Steering cylinder end stops are moved to gently with integration of a steering angle sensor at the steering axle
  • Various valve characteristics
  • Left/right steering behavior similar thanks to integrated teaching processes
